So please try and raise at least $100 from your friends and family—you can do it, it will be lots of fun, and it will mean a better future for
kids less fortunate than us.

My husband has found out that he has a cureable disease. I am paying for our health insurance out of my paycheck at the rate of $350.00 every two weeks. The medicine he takes is a weekly injection that makes him very ill for days at a time, but God bless him, he goes to work anyway. We have an eight year old son that we are trying to raise on a so so income. Last month both of our vehicles broke down, costing over $1,200.00 in repairs. Neither one of them are newer than 1992. I work full time at a local hospital as a cna, and it is a good job. That is, providing there are enough patients in the place for them to need me to come to work. I can’t change jobs because I would have to drive to another town other than the one we both work in and right now we are using a company “loaner” truck to get back and forth. I know that many others in this life are worse off than we are. I am thankful to have a place to live, even though we are behind on the rent, food to eat, and one bra to wear. Some don’t have that. But, I am still appealing to the kindness of those may read this letter who would consider helping someone who is trying to help themselves. God Bless you all, and God bless the person who created this magazine that I stumbled onto. Thank you.

Campaign Start: June 7, 2006
Campaign End: July 7, 2007
Campaign Goal: $1,500

Riley Horgan is a 10-year old vibrant, loving and active young lady who was born prematurely and has struggled with health issues since she was born. Though years of steroid treatment has held off her disease, Riley is in need of a double lung transplant in order to overcome her medical condition known as Bronchiolitis Obliterans, a rare lung disease similar to cystic fibrosis.

Riley is strong, and unrelenting in her ongoing fight for life and yet is very aware that she will die at a very young age should she not receive a viable organ donation soon. Her doctors at UCLA have put her at the top of the organ donation list. At anytime her mother Erynn Horgan will have to relocate to Los Angeles from Las Vegas and sustain overwhelming medical bills and living expenses in Los Angeles while continuing to sustaining a home in Las Vegas, Nevada for her son Jack. Her husband Jon, though a hard working truck driver, does not make a salary to support such a lifestyle.

Erynn, a professional working mother up until recently, has been instructed by the doctors that she is not to work, is to spend time with her daughter, and be ready to get to the airport at a moments notice to be air lifted to Los Angeles for Riley's operation. Erynn has been informed that after approximately 1.5 months, the insurance will cut off.

Jon's work offers only a PPO health program, and though they pay exorbitant costs for Riley's high risk situation, insurance will only pay approximately 40-50% of the medical costs during the coverage period. It has been estimated that the Horgan family will have to cover close to $500,000 in medical and living costs during Riley's hospital stay and up to one year following the surgery while she and her mother reside in Los Angeles, while sustaining a permanent residence in Las Vegas for her son Jack.

Knowing Riley personally since birth has motivated me to do whatever possible to save her life. She is a loving, considerate, artistic, funny, and worthy child, worthy of a second chance to be everything that she possibly can. Without the generosity, kindness, and support of strangers and those that know and love Riley, her future is a short one. She will not be able to do many things that she wants.

I asked Riley once if she was scared about going into the hospital, she said, "I'm not scared, but it will be lonely". She will be isolated for up to four months following the transplant and her small, 80 pound frame will be pumped full of immune suppressant drugs to assist with anti-rejection.

Won't you please help to save her life? The smallest financial donation to her medical trust fund can mean a lot.

We will be setting up a non-profit fundraising campaign with the National Transplant Assistance Fund in the near future, so that all contributions will be tax deductible. At this time, the non-profit is not in place, however, should you wish to donate now, please send all funds to:

Riley G. Horgan
Medical Trust Fund
Bank of America
Acct #004967384551
Write “IN HONOR OF RILEY HORGAN” in the memo field

Should you require additional information about Riley and the Horgan's situation, I can be contacted at ms.speer@cox.net, (619) 990-8392.

Your generosity will not go unnoticed.

Aura's House is a non-profit affiliated with the 501(c)(3) child sponsorship organization, Children International. Since our inception in 2004, we have raised more than $22,000 for various projects to better the lives of underprivileged children and their families throughout the developing world. Past projects have included:

-Building and furnishing homes for families in Guatemala and Honduras
-Sending Zambian children to school
-Drilling a well for a village in India
-Raising $500 for badly needed supplies and furniture for 4 different families

This time we're aiming to build a badly-needed classroom structure for 4,611 students in a cramped schoolhouse in Manila. Eight year old Christian attends the overcrowded school and is hoping for a new classroom. There are pictures of him and his friends on our website, www.aurashouse.com. All donors can receive a tax receipt from Children International.

Campaign End: May 20, 2006
Campaign Goal: $500.00

I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to you today because my wife, Lindsay Krombein, and I need your help. My daughter, Ella, was diagnosed almost two years ago with Cystic Fibrosis, a life-threatening, incurable, genetic disease. I am asking for your help and support in our fight to save her life. This year I will be leading a team of “Ella’s Elite” at the Portland, Oregon Great Strides Walk, taking place on May 20th at Oaks Amusement Park. It will be a day full of fun and celebration for the whole family as we all work to beat this disease. For the first time in it’s 50 year history, the CF Foundation is actually experiencing a funding gap… they have more research grant proposals than they are able to fund. The path to finding a cure for CF is paved with numerous research opportunities – any one of which could have a profound impact on the lives of those with the disease. The only thing standing in the way of a cure is additional money to fund this life-saving research.

Last year Ella’s Elite had 54 walkers in six different cities, with just over 300 contributors, and we were able to raise just over $14,000! This year we have eleven different teams of Ella’s Elite across the country, and some lofty goals to beat.

I am writing to you today to enlist your help in this fight to raise funds and save lives. Please visit my fundraising web page by clicking on the link below where you will be able to join our team or make a secure, online donation quickly and easily. If you have time, please forward the link on to other brothers, your friends and family, even acquaintances… we discovered last year that sometimes the biggest help comes from the most unlikely of places. I can’t begin to tell you how much your support and contribution means to us. Ella is almost two-and-a-half now and is growing faster each day… please help us to give her, and the others like her, the quality of life and future they deserve.
